CamAlien’s new platform was presented at the Biodiversa+ Midterm Conference
The Biodiversa+ Midterm Conference took place on 17-18 September 2025 at the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre in Leiden and online. It gathered participants from across Europe and beyond. The conference allowed participants to discuss achievements, challenges, and opportunities across the four Biodiversa+ flagship programmes and explore how to strengthen the bridge between science, policy, practice, and society.
Toke Thomas Høye from Aarhus University, who leads OneSTOP’s WP2, took part in the panel Piloting harmonisation for biodiversity monitoring from testbeds to networks, and presented the CamAlienViewer, a new tool allowing users to get data on certain invasive alien species and where they have been spotted.
The tool allows users to zoom through the map in it and see where specific invasive alien species have been spotted and further identify them through the pictures taken by CamAlien. Using CamAlien and the CamAlienViewer allows the collection of large amounts of biodiversity data that can be later exploited in a variety of ways, including for the detection and prevention of invasive alien species.
