New video highlights OneSTOP’s approach to socio-political action on invasive alien species

26.06.2025

In this edition of #IntroducingOneSTOP, we hear directly from Helen Roy (UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and the University of Exeter) and Sofie Meeus (Meise Botanic Garden) as they introduce the project’s work on socio-political action—the fourth key pillar of the OneSTOP project, alongside detection, prioritisation and data dissemination.

Recognising that biological invasions are closely linked to human activity, OneSTOP integrates public engagement and policy interaction into its overall strategy through Living Labs, policy forums, and community engagement. The project will work through five country-level Living Labs, creating spaces to test real-world solutions, build learning communities, and foster dialogue among stakeholders.

The video explores how OneSTOP will build on existing EU regulations and global frameworks, such as the EU Regulation on Invasive Alien Species and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 6), to inform and support policy and public responses to biological invasions.
