OneSTOP at the EMAPI conference
The 17th International Conference on the Ecology and Management of Alien Plant Invasions 2025 took place from 2 to 5 September in Christchurch, New Zealand. The conference was co-hosted by OneSTOP’s partner, Lincoln University, and the Centre for One Biosecurity Research, Analysis and Synthesis (COBRAS) and Tourism New Zealand.
During the event, 160 attendees from more than 25 countries dived into the latest research and practical approaches to managing alien plant invasions. They also had the chance to get familiar with the OneSTOP project thanks to the promotional materials that were available for attendees to pick up at the conference.
The main topic, “From Ecology to Action: Innovative Solutions for Plant Invasion Management,” reflected the urgent need to turn science into solutions. Discussions were held during the 7 symposia on:
-
Advances in biological control of weeds
-
An overview of a national programme tackling invasive conifers
-
Cutting-edge tools for risk assessment
-
Above- and below-ground impacts of alien plants
-
The role of environmental change in plant invasions
