OneSTOP poster at the ESA 2025 Annual Meeting

02.09.2025

OneSTOP was presented at the 110th Annual Meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Baltimore, Maryland (10–15 August 2025) as part of the newly launched "Projects Proposed Posters" section.

The Ecological Society of America (ESA) represents the world's largest community of professional ecologists, and this year's meeting brought together over 2,000 presentations from researchers worldwide. The conference theme "Ecology is Everywhere" was particularly relevant to invasive species detection and response.

OneSTOP’s poster was presented by Laurentiu Rozylowicz and Cristina Preda from Ovidius University of Constanța. It included the project's approach to managing terrestrial invasive alien species across Europe through four key pillars: detection, prioritisation, dissemination, and socio-political action. In addition, emerging technologies such as Air-DNA sampling, computer vision systems for vehicles and light-traps, digital data mining through iEcology, and citizen science sentinel gardens were highlighted during the presentation.

OneSTOP’s approach of co-developing solutions through regional Living Labs across different European contexts sparked good discussions with attendees. Useful feedback was gathered on three key areas: integrating diverse data streams, using Living Labs for collaborative development, and connecting ecological monitoring with policy implementation. This input will help OneSTOP strengthen Europe's ability to manage invasive species and respond more quickly to new threats.
